gaplek…a good alternative food?

Have you heard bout gaplek before?

Gaplek is one of alternative food that very easy to find in some village in indonesia, especially in gunungkidul. Gunungkidul is famous village in indonesia that introduce this kind of food to the world. Maybe we can find in other country, the difference only the name. The benefit of gaplek than other food is gaplek can be saved for long time..and that time won’t change the taste.

How to make a gaplek?

Firstly, prepare some cassava..then peel it ouf, you will see the cassava in white color.

and the last..dry it on the sun for long time..until the cassafa to be dried. the dried cassava is named gaplek.

Gaplek can be saved for long time..it’s good to prepare if oneday we don’t have stock for rice..

Exactly, that’s need a process to make a real food from gaplek. A food that come from gaplek is called tiwul.

“Teh tarik” and “nasi lemak”

 

Exactly, i am indonesian..now, i live in malaysia. I have stay in kuala lumpur since 8 months ago. I take master by course in one of university in kuala lumpur, capital city of malaysia. From that time, i have learned many kind of interesting behaviour, culture and food. Specially for the food, i like eat nasi lemak…nasi lemak is kind of malaysian food that very suitable served as breakfast. The taste of the rice is different like common rice, i think the rice like “nasi uduk” in indonesia. Nasi lemak is served with a half of egg,  ”teri” and peanut that mix together with sambal. Honestly, i am sambal maniac..favorite sambal here is sambal in nasi lemak. The taste of most sambal here is strange for my tongue..not hot, but a bit of sweet…i think it can’t called sambal.

 Another special food here is “teh tarik”. From the malaysian word, Teh means tea and tarik means pull. Teh tarik is named of malaysian drink that mix tea and creamer. The mixing using tradional way, not just mixed with spoon, but using 2 cups, one tea in one cup is placed in the higher place then spilled to another cup that placed in the bottom. That mixing looks like pull the water from the one cup to another cup..so people called it “teh tarik”. From the picture, we can see that the color looks like a cofee. from the taste looks strange…not feel like a tea. Try it to prove…..for me, better to drink original tea…although here any original tea, but the taste is different, so i brought many tea from indonesia when i back.

Banana fried in the rainy…fantastic

 

Banana is kind of fruit that have a multivitamin. So, it’s good for human’s body. There are many type of banana. In my village, the favorite banana type are “ambon” and “rojo” banana. From the name, i think peole named the “ambon” banana because that original banana come from ambon. Ambon is name of city in east of indonesia. “Ambon” banana is famous with sweet taste and very suitable served after eat as desert. another favorite is called “rojo” banana. Rojo is javanese word, means a king. From the dimension of the banana, “Raja” banana is biggest banana that i have seen. The taste of “rojo” banana is delicious as “ambon” banana. Because the shape of the “raja” banana that bigger than “ambon” banana, people don’t too feel good to serve that banana as desert.

Another banana is “kepok” banana. But the difference is “kepok” banana is more suitable to cook than to serve as desert (as fruit). Many people in my village like to fried banana with an ingredient. “kepok” banana is mixed with flavour, sugar, a bit of salt and water. The fried rice is very delicious, moreover if you eat it with a cup of cofee when it’s rainy….so fantastic….try it.

Coffee in the morning…

 

Nowdays, many people like to drink coffee. Previously, people drunk black coffee (bitter one) but it’s changed today. they Not really drink 100% coffee (black coffee), but some it’s added by cream or milk. Surely the coffee taste won’t be as strong as black one.

Since a long long ago, people know and belive if coffee can increase the stamina and help to reduce the feeling of sleepy. simple case if somebody want to keep on working until night, they need something which can stimulate the hormone to keep them awake.

In other hand, people just like coffee as a hobby. They like the coffee taste only,  like me. As usual, i drink a soft coffe mix (a bit coffe with much creamer) in the morning with a plate of banana fried and offcourse with detiknews.com. It’s so wonderfull…i wonder if i have a pizza or cake and coffee with me..hmmm…it’s like in san francisco.hehehe..

At last, i just wanna to remind all of you not to drink too much coffee..it’s not good for your help and will spend a lot of your money.

i am truly highlander …

 

It’s like dramatic word…highlander..

Most of you must know who’s highlander. Highlander is one hero that’s created by the western movie. Like other heroes, highlander was a extra ordinary person that got the power from the thunderbolt. we all know that it just a fiction story…we couldn’t find the person that have a power like that.

But..from the meaning of the words..highlander means anyone that come from highland (it can be mountain or village). Fortunatelly, I was born in highland palace in indonesia. the highland is very famous…most indonesian know bout the palace. because every summer, that highland’s people are very hard to find water. If you’re indonesian, i think you know the highland that i mean..yupp..gunungkidul.hehehhe…

Gunungkidul is one of beautifull highland in indonesia. The place is very closed with jogjakarta, the former capital city in indonesia (before moved to jakarta). Why this highland was called gunungkidul? It was caused the position of the place that very high…from jogja, u can see which part of gunungkidul, and if u want to go there, u will find an amazing road…very2 challenging. I say..better if u go with motorbike..i think you will enjoy the track.hehehhe…

Gunungkidul have a many interesting places, like beach, forest, cave and underground river. Especially for the gunungkidul’s beach, i think u feel that u find the most beautifull beach that have u ever seen.hehhee…

In the end, i just wanna to say that i am proud to be borned in gunungkidul highland
